There was too much to think of, too much to ponder and dwell on since the arrival of Runa and the woman she called Belladonna. The statement from the Ghost left Schuyler with feeling far more exhausted and confused then she ever had before. If anything she wished for comfort and solace during those times when her mind was empty save for her own thoughts.
The silence was a blessing even as it seemed a curse. Schuyler had become so used to the voices in her head that to not hear them made her feel lonely. She had done this to herself after all by pushing everyone away and shutting them out as soon as the voices started. Even when Finn and Avy had taken her in and given her protection and a sound proof room Schuyler had kept them at a distance even now. No matter how big the crowd or how many others joined the shelter, Schuyler always felt alone and strange.
She didn?t realize how exhausted she was until she entered her own room and found the empty bed waiting for her. The quiet in her mind had her wishing for a peaceful night of deep sleep hopefully without the dreams that had disturbed her ever since the voices had started.
It was becoming now far more difficult to escape the dreams as much as it was impossible to escape the voices. Runa?s words of missing her wings wouldn?t leave her thoughts. To escape, to fly away, to disappear into the night seemed such a tempting thought but it wouldn?t stop the voices either.
Devils and Gods. Angels and Demons. All in us each and every day. These were the thoughts that would never leave her head. Schuyler rubbed at her eyes even though the tears long ago had run dry. There was nothing left but the hollow void filled with only the voices of those holy and those sometimes not.
The cool breeze of the night was left to prowl through her window as she left it open to help her ease her way into sleep if perchance to dream sweetly. Perhaps someone up there would grant her such serenity?
